The Department of Design for Stage and Film provides extensive training in scenery, lighting and costume design, and offers double majors in, for example, scenery / lighting. Lighting classes involve theoretical and practical training emphasizing text analysis, concept development, collaboration with other designers, and technical knowledge through studio and practical projects. The light lab provides an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience. Students are introduced to a variety of equipment and industry resources through equipment demonstrations and visits to shops and studios.
